Visual content is a must for 2015 – no excuses

It’s a noisy world out there.

Everybody is trying to produce content, get noticed and drive sales. Facebook is getting busier, Pinterest is chock full of stunning, fascinating and well groomed pics and even YouTube may start to struggle as other social media channels take on the challenge of hosted video this year.

We’ve had it easy for so many years, but as 2015 dawns, the social media channels are finally sending businesses the message that yes, social media is the place to be, BUT you have to pay for it.

Great content is always a winner, it will boost your listing on a google search and get people to engage with you. But in such a crowded market place, you have to entice your readers to read first.

Don’t let your carefully crafted message get lost or ignored. 2015 is going to see a rise in visual content to grab attention, build brands and generally get content noticed, read and shared. It doesn’t matter how brilliant your copy is if nobody reads it. You need to stand out and shout and using a great image can really set you above your competitors.

More companies will be using the power of images this year so it is important that your visual content stands up to the pressure. High quality and carefully chosen images will be all the more important as it is no longer acceptable to reuse those standard stock photos or to just use pics as space fillers. Images are now so interactive, we expect to read them as we would read a block of text. Make sure your images are saying the right thing about your business!

Here are some inventive ways to use visual content to boost your biz

  1. Memes

They have been around for a while now, with no sign of slowing down. Create something fun, funny, motivating or eye catching with a well-chosen image and get those shares!

  1. Blog pics

Don’t leave the blog pics to the last minute before posting. Think about your main points in your blog and try to send that message through your images, especially your headline image.

  1. Recycle

The right images can be hard to find sometimes. Find a good one and share it everywhere, on your blog, on your website, through social media, in your newsletter, on article sites. Soon, your new look will be associated with your ‘brand’ as much as your logo.

  1. Illustrate your point

Infographics may sound tricky but can be very simple. Instead of quotes dry stats, use pictures to make your point and make it easily shareable. It will be read and is much more likely to be shared.

  1. Don’t be scared of BIG images up front on your website

After all a picture speaks a thousand words and can communicate so much about you and your business in that tiny 10 seconds most people will spend on your home page.
